Usual size of the geomembranes

The roll size of the hdpe geomembranes can be customized according to your project needs, the width can be 1m-9.5m, the length can be 50m, 100m, 150m or customized. But the perfect roll width is 5.8m, because the length of 20ft container is 5.89m, and the length of 40ft container is 12m, so width 5.8m can be loaded maximum quantity, which will save the transportation cost for you.

Loading Preparation

1. Assess the Container

Determine Container Size: Depending on the quantity of HDPE geomembrane rolls, decide whether to use a standard or high cube container. High cube containers offer an additional foot of vertical space, which can be advantageous for maximizing load capacity.

2. Plan the Loading Sequence

Create a Loading Plan: Develop a detailed loading plan that includes the number of rolls, their dimensions, and the sequence in which they will be loaded. This helps in efficient space utilization and prevents any last-minute confusion.

Use Loading Tools: Gather necessary loading tools such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and loading ramps. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and operators are trained.

Loading Process

1. Prepare the Geomembrane Rolls

Check Roll Integrity: Inspect each HDPE geomembrane roll for any damage or defects. Ensure that rolls are tightly wound and properly labeled.

Protective Packaging: If not already done, wrap the rolls in protective material such as plastic or canvas to safeguard them from moisture, dust, and mechanical damage during transit.

2. Arrange Rolls for Loading

Vertical Loading: For smaller rolls, consider vertical loading to maximize container space. Place the rolls upright and secure them with straps or braces to prevent movement.

Horizontal Loading: Larger rolls should be loaded horizontally. Place the heaviest rolls at the bottom and lighter ones on top to maintain stability.

3. Utilize Pallets and Dunnage

Palletize Rolls: Place rolls on sturdy pallets to facilitate easy loading and unloading. Ensure that pallets are in good condition and can support the weight of the rolls.

Use Dunnage: Insert dunnage (padding material) between rolls and along the container walls to prevent shifting during transport. This can include foam, wood blocks, or air-filled bags.

4. Load the Container

Position the Rolls: Using a forklift or pallet jack, carefully load the rolls into the container according to the loading plan. Start from the far end of the container and work towards the door to ensure even distribution.

Secure the Load: Once all rolls are in place, secure them with straps, ropes, or cargo nets. Pay special attention to securing the front and back ends of the load to prevent movement during transit.

Check Weight Distribution: Ensure the load is evenly distributed across the container’s floor to prevent tipping or imbalance during transport.

Final Checks and Documentation

1. Conduct Final Inspection

Inspect Load Security: Perform a final inspection to confirm that all rolls are securely fastened and there is no movement.

Seal the Container: Close and seal the container doors. Apply a container seal and record the seal number for documentation purposes.

2. Documentation

Prepare Shipping Documents: Complete all necessary shipping documents, including the bill of lading, packing list, and any required certificates.

Label the Container: Clearly label the container with the necessary shipping information, including destination, contents, and handling instructions.
